Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions I hear most often.

A fractional CMO is a senior marketing executive who works with your company on a part-time or contract basis. You get the strategic leadership, experience, and accountability of a Chief Marketing Officer without the $200K-$350K annual salary and benefits package. I embed into your team, attend your meetings, lead your marketing function, and build the systems your business needs to grow.

Agencies sell deliverables. I build systems. An agency will run your ads or manage your social media, but they're not sitting in your leadership meetings, aligning sales and marketing, or building the infrastructure that makes everything work together. I'm accountable to your revenue goals, not a scope of work. And unlike an agency, I don't have 30 other clients competing for my attention.

It depends on the engagement, but a typical week includes a strategy or leadership meeting, team check-ins, campaign review and optimization, and async communication throughout the week. Some clients need 10 hours a week. Others need 25. We figure out the right cadence based on your goals and the stage you're at.

I've worked across manufacturing, retail, agriculture, professional services, SaaS, and consumer brands. The common thread isn't industry. It's company stage. I work best with businesses between $1M and $30M in revenue that have outgrown DIY marketing but aren't ready for a full-time CMO. The strategic principles of good marketing are universal. The tactics adapt to your market.

Fractional CMO engagements are custom-scoped based on what your business needs. A fractional CMO typically costs a fraction of what you'd pay for a full-time executive with similar experience. The 90-Day Growth Sprint is a fixed-scope engagement with clear deliverables. And the Marketing System Audit is free. The best way to get specific is to book the audit and we'll talk through what makes sense for your situation.

I limit active engagements to ensure every client gets my full attention. Depending on current capacity, we can typically kick off within 1-2 weeks of signing. The free audit can happen within a few days of reaching out.

AI is a tool, not a strategy. I use it where it genuinely adds value: automating repetitive workflows, generating content drafts for human refinement, building smarter reporting, and streamlining operations. But I don't lead with AI as a selling point. The strategy comes first. Then we figure out which parts of execution can be made faster or smarter with the right technology.

No. I lead them. Most of my clients have existing marketing people who are capable but lack strategic direction. My job is to set the strategy, build the systems, coach the team, and hold everything accountable. Your team gets better because they're working within a clear framework with real leadership. I make your people more effective, not redundant.

The 90-Day Growth Sprint is the best fit for a defined, one-time engagement. It has a clear start, a clear end, and specific deliverables. If you just need a quick gut-check on your marketing, start with the free audit. But I'm transparent about this: I'm not an agency that takes one-off projects. My value is in building systems and leading strategy over time.

You probably need one if: you're spending money on marketing but can't connect it to revenue, your team is executing but nobody is setting the strategy, you've outgrown agencies but aren't ready for a full-time executive, or your growth has stalled and you're not sure why. If any of those sound familiar, the free audit is a good place to start.
